When you’re working with video-based consumer insights, you’re not just capturing data—you’re capturing people. Their faces, voices, reactions, emotions. That makes data protection not just a legal requirement, but a moral one too.
At Try&Tell, we handle sensitive video footage every day. That’s why GDPR compliance and data security aren’t just boxes we tick—they’re built into the very foundation of our platform.
Our experts break it down in this short video:
It starts with trust
We believe research should be built on mutual trust—between us, our clients, and the people who generously share their feedback on camera. That’s why every respondent signs a clear and transparent consent form before participating in a study.
This form explains that all data is stored for a maximum of one year, unless the respondent explicitly agrees to extend it. No hidden fine print. No vague timelines. Just clarity from the start.
Streaming, not downloading
To protect participants and prevent misuse, clients can stream video footage securely via the Try&Tell platform, but they cannot download it. This reduces the risk of unauthorized distribution and ensures control stays exactly where it should: with the tester and the platform.
A secure infrastructure you can count on
Currently, all our data is securely stored in Canada and the US, and we’re planning to expand storage to Europe very soon. But infrastructure is only the beginning.
We also use industry-grade encryption for both the storage and streaming of video content, and all access is strictly controlled. After the agreed-upon retention period, the data—including all video files—is permanently deleted from our systems.
Compliance, from start to finish
We’ve designed every step of our process with GDPR in mind—from the moment consent is signed, to how the data is stored, accessed, and eventually deleted.
This isn’t just about protecting personal data. It’s about ensuring the quality and credibility of the research we deliver. Because when respondents know their information is safe, they’re more open, honest, and expressive. And that leads to better insights for everyone.
